Really cool animation! In the thumbnail there was just a white square so I had to click on it and have a look. Then when the animation started my jaw dropped a little. Just the design of the first charecter looked so nice and then the action sequence that followed. Really cool.
I am not that into anime so I don't know if the transformation into cannons is novel or not. Heard about girls that turn into tanks but this seems more dragonballish to me. Regardless I love the concept and the animations of the guns and explosions are great. The moves the main charecter does to transform are also great and I love how his helmet melts away to reveal his face. Really nice work. Would love to see it in color.
It's hard to fault something like this bccause it exceeds my own abilities by so much but after viewing the animation a few times the only thing I can mention is that the charecter's face in the end looks a bit wonky. I think there is something with the eyes? Perhaps the spacing is too narrow or something. Also, the buildings in the explosion scene are a bit uneaven, which is fine but there is one or two that look thinner at the bottom than on top which gives a strange feel.
Overall though this is amazing work and my comments are minor details that I am more than sure you know already and might even fix in the future. If you decide to do fully rendered version in color, please share! :)
Sweet, dude; I've always recognized you as a digital painter, so seeing animated work that you've produced is a refreshing change of pace. I recall Jae mentioning in his Discord server that animating without onion skinning is a practical way of achieving exceptional results in the work being created and I've been flummoxed by the notion since; it's no surprised that your talent has already left you fixated on the possibility of utilizing the method to achieve greatness; hacks like myself will almost certainly be onion skinning on our deathbeds.
Anyway, this looks like some Akira shit; it looks like Tetsuo grew a nice pair of titties and formed an hourglass figure, quite fortified for delivering everyone's demise, guided by a little robotic assistant Navi equivalent sort of dealio that is providing him with the fucked up ability to shape shift into malleable blocks of robotic shit that can fire barrages of bullets on a whim. I'm unsure of whether your animation skills are in their infancy, but if they are, this is rather otherworldly work; this sincerely looks like the work of a studio producing an anime involving kickass guns and detailed robotic messes of shit that would frustrate an entire team of animators during production.
You're an absolute colossus whether this is your first time animating or not, but if it is, I implore you to continue the pursuit. To say that it's a rite of passage for you to continue delivering these stacks of greatness to the world is an understatement; if you have been doing this for any less than 5 years, you're going to fuck Bajihd up within a fortnight and make Miyazaki finally die just so he can roll over in his grave recognizing defeat; keep this work a-going, sir!
I want to make sloppy love to this; I want to enjoy its disgusting shit as I exclaim of its wonderments; I want to fuck my computer monitor while this gif is displayed on it so that I can induce an exposure to radiation that will leave my genitals sterile and useless and I am no longer capable of conceiving a child in this world where it's only biologically viable to impregnate useless women to produce offspring instead of delicious gifs such as this one.
